FAQs Ordering Tests Transporting Specimens
The batch sheet and labels give a transport temperature of "R" for refrigerate but I know that Mayo Medical Laboratories accepts frozen samples. How do I notify Mayo Medical Laboratories that I am sending a sample at a temperature other than what is listed on the batch sheet and labels?
MayoACCESS always prints the preferred temperature on the Labels and Batch Sheets but Mayo Medical Laboratories does recognize and accept other temperatures for some specimens. Unfortunately there is no electronic way to update the temperature in MayoACCESS so you must cross out the temperature on the batch sheet and write the correct shipping temperature in red ink. Additionally the sample should be packed appropriately in the correct shipping temperature bag.
