NY State Approved Indicates the status of NY State approval and if the test is orderable for NY State clients.

Useful For Suggests clinical disorders or settings where the test may be helpful

Prenatal diagnosis of copy number changes (gains or losses) across the entire genome

Determining the size, precise breakpoints, gene content, and any unappreciated complexity of abnormalities detected by other methods such as conventional chromosome and FISH studies

Determining if apparently balanced abnormalities identified by previous conventional chromosome studies have cryptic imbalances, since a proportion of such rearrangements that appear balanced at the resolution of a chromosome study are actually unbalanced when analyzed by higher-resolution chromosomal microarray

Testing Algorithm Delineates situation(s) when tests are added to the initial order. This includes reflex and additional tests.

A maternal blood sample is required when ordering this test (see PPAPT / Parental Sample Prep for Prenatal Microarray Testing). If PPAPT is not initially ordered, a new order number will be created for the maternal blood sample.

A paternal blood sample is desired but not required (see PPAPT / Parental Sample Prep for Prenatal Microarray Testing).

When prenatal microarray analysis is ordered, maternal cell contamination testing will be performed on the maternal blood and prenatal sample to rule out the presence of maternal cells in the fetal sample.

If an insufficient sample is received or maternal cell contamination is identified in the prenatal sample, microarray testing will be performed on cultured material.
