C1 Esterase Inhibitor, Functional Assay, Serum
Method Description Describes how the test is performed and provides a method-specific reference
Enzyme immunoassay (EIA). Patient serum is mixed with biotinylated C1s. If the C1 inhibitor (C1-INH) is functional, it will bind the biotin-C1s and be bound to avidin-coated plates. The C1-INH, which is immobilized through its binding to C1s, is then detected with an enzyme-linked antibody to C1-INH and a colorimetric assay. Day(s) and Time(s) Test Performed Outlines the days and times the test is performed. This field reflects the day and time the sample must be in the testing laboratory to begin the testing process and includes any specimen preparation and processing time required before the test is performed. Some tests are listed as continuously performed, which means assays are performed several times during the day.
