Specimen Required Defines the optimal specimen. This field describes the type of specimen required to perform the test and the preferred volume to complete testing. The volume allows automated processing, fastest throughput and, when indicated, repeat or reflex testing.

Submit only 1 of the following specimens:

 

Serum

Draw blood in a plain, red-top tube(s), serum gel tube(s) is acceptable.

Spin down and send 3 mL of serum refrigerate in plastic vial.

 

Plasma

Draw blood in a lavender-top (EDTA) tube(s). Spin down and send 3 mL of EDTA plasma refrigerate in plastic vial.

Reject Due To Identifies specimen types and conditions that may cause the specimen to be rejected

Hemolysis:

Mild OK; Gross Reject

Thawing:

Warm OK; Cold OK

Lipemia:

Mild OK; Gross Reject

Icteric:
