Test ID: FENTQ
Enterovirus RNA, Qualitative, RT-PCR
Specimen Type
Describes the specimen type needed for testing
Specimen Required
Defines the optimal specimen. This field describes the type of specimen required to perform the test and the preferred volume to complete testing. The volume allows automated processing, fastest throughput and, when indicated, repeat or reflex testing.
Submit only 1 of the following specimens:
Throat or rectal swab:
Collect 0.7 mL viral transport medium. M4 media, V-C-M medium (green top) tube, equivalent (UTM), or M-5 media (supply T484) is acceptable. Ship specimen frozen.
Plasma:
Draw blood in a yellow top (ACD), lavender top (EDTA) tube or plasma separator tube (PPT).
Spin down and transfer 0.7 mL ACD or EDTA plasma into a plastic, screw-top vial. Ship specimen frozen.
Serum:
Draw blood in a no-additive, red-top tube. Spin down and submit 0.7 mL serum. Ship specimen frozen.
Stool:
Collect 1 gram random stool in a sterile, plastic container. Freeze immediately and ship frozen.
Reject Due To
Identifies specimen types and conditions that may cause the specimen to be rejected
