Test ID: FKETO
Ketoconazole, Serum/Plasma

Specimen Type Describes the specimen type needed for testing

Varies

Specimen Required Defines the optimal specimen. This field describes the type of specimen required to perform the test and the preferred volume to complete testing. The volume allows automated processing, fastest throughput and, when indicated, repeat or reflex testing.

Submit only 1 of the following specimens:

Serum

Draw blood in a plain, red-top tube(s). Promptly centrifuge and

send 1 mL of serum refrigerated in plastic vial.

Note:    1. Serum gel tubes are unacceptable.

             2. Indicate serum on request form.

             3. Label specimen appropriately (serum).

Plasma

Draw blood in an EDTA lavender-top or pink-top tube(s).

Promptly centrifuge and send 1 mL of EDTA plasma

refrigerated in plastic vial.

Note:    1. Plasma gel tubes are unacceptable.

             2. Indicate plasma on request form.

             3. Label specimen appropriately (plasma).

Specimen Minimum Volume Defines the amount of specimen required to perform an assay once, including instrument and container dead space. Submitting the minimum specimen volume makes it impossible to repeat the test or perform confirmatory or perform reflex testing. In some situations, a minimum specimen volume may result in a QNS (quantity not sufficient) result, requiring a second specimen to be collected.

0.22 mL

Reject Due To Identifies specimen types and conditions that may cause the specimen to be rejected
