Draw blood in a lavender-top (EDTA) or green-top (heparin) tube(s).

(Plasma gel tube is not acceptable). Spin down and send 2.0 mL of

EDTA or heparinized plasma refrigerated.

Note:     1. Indicate plasma on request form.

                  2. Label specimen appropriately (plasma).

Ambient 16 days, Refrigerate 16 days, Frozen 10 months

 

Serum

Draw blood in a plain, red-top tube(s). (Serum gel tube is not

acceptable.) Spin down and send 2.0 mL of serum refrigerated.

Note:     1. Indicate serum on request form.

                  2. Label specimen appropriately (serum).

Ambient 16 days, Refrigerate 16 days, Frozen 10 months

 

Alternate:

Whole Blood

Draw blood in a lavender-top (EDTA) or  green-top (heparin) tube(s).

Send 2.0 mL of EDTA or heparinized whole blood refrigerated.

Note:     1. Indicate  whole blood on request form.

                  2. Label specimen appropriately (whole blood).

Urine

2.0 mL from random urine collection. Send specimen refrigerated in a

plastic, 60-mL urine bottle.

                  2. Label specimen appropriately (urine).
