Test ID: FCCK
Cholecystokinin (CCK)
Specimen Type
Describes the specimen type needed for testing
GI Plasma
Specimen Required
Defines the optimal specimen. This field describes the type of specimen required to perform the test and the preferred volume to complete testing. The volume allows automated processing, fastest throughput and, when indicated, repeat or reflex testing.
Container/Tube: Special tube containing G.I. preservative (MML Supply T125)
Specimen Volume: 3 mL
Collection Instructions:
1. Patient should fast for 10 to 12 hours prior to collection.
2. Collect 10 mL of blood in special tube.
3. Specimen should be separated immediately and plasma frozen as soon as possible.
Additional Information: Antacid medications and medications that affect intestinal motility should be discontinued, if possible, for at least 48 hours prior to collection.
Specimen Minimum Volume
Defines the amount of specimen required to perform an assay once, including instrument and container dead space. Submitting the minimum specimen volume makes it impossible to repeat the test or perform confirmatory or perform reflex testing. In some situations, a minimum specimen volume may result in a QNS (quantity not sufficient) result, requiring a second specimen to be collected.
1 mL
Reject Due To
Identifies specimen types and conditions that may cause the specimen to be rejected
| Hemolysis | NA |
| Thawing | Warm reject; Cold reject |
| Lipemia | NA |
| Icterus | NA |
| Other | NA |
Specimen Stability Information
Provides a description of the temperatures required to transport a specimen to the laboratory. Alternate acceptable temperature(s) are also included.
| Specimen Type | Temperature | Time |
|---|---|---|
| GI Plasma | Frozen | 30 days |
