Specimen Required

Draw blood in a plain, red-top tube(s) or a serum gel tube(s)

following an overnight (10-12 hour) fast for a baseline

determination. Spin down within one hour of collection and send

3.0 mL of serum frozen in a plastic vial.

Note:     1. Indicate serum on request form.

                  2. Label specimen appropriately (serum).

                  3. Medications that affect pancreatic activity should be

                       discontinued, if possible, for at least 48 hours prior to

                       collection of specimen.
