Test ID: BTKFP
Bruton Tyrosine Kinase (BTK) Genotype and Protein Analysis, Full Gene Sequence and Flow Cytometry

Specimen Type Describes the specimen type needed for testing

Whole Blood EDTA

Specimen Required Defines the optimal specimen. This field describes the type of specimen required to perform the test and the preferred volume to complete testing. The volume allows automated processing, fastest throughput and, when indicated, repeat or reflex testing.

Forms:

1. Bruton's Tyrosine Kinase (BTK) Genotype Patient Information Sheet (Supply T620) in Special Instructions is required.

2. New York Clients-Informed consent is required. Please document on the request form or electronic order that a copy is on file. An Informed Consent for Genetic Testing (Supply T576) is available in Special Instructions.

Additional Information:

1. Ordering physician's name, phone number, and patient information sheet are required.

2. For flow cytometry serial monitoring, we recommend that specimen draws be performed at the same time of day.

3. Specimens are required to be received in the laboratory weekdays and by 4 p.m. on Friday. It is recommended that specimens arrive within 24 hours of draw. Specimens arriving on the weekend may be canceled. Draw and package specimen as close to shipping time as possible.

Two separate EDTA specimens and the patient information sheet are required.

Specimen Type: Blood for BTKSP / Bruton Tyrosine Kinase (BTK) Genotype, Full Gene Sequence

Container/Tube: Lavender top (EDTA)

Specimen Volume: 3 mL

Collection Instructions:

1. Send specimen in original tube.

2. Label as BTKSP.

Specimen Stability Information: Refrigerated (preferred)/Ambient

Specimen Type: Blood for BTK / Bruton Tyrosine Kinase (Btk), Protein Expression, Flow Cytometry, Blood

Container/Tube: Lavender top (EDTA)

Specimen Volume: 5 mL

Collection Instructions:

1. Send specimen in original tube. Do not aliquot.

2. Ship at ambient temperature only.

3. Label as BTK.

Specimen Stability Information: Ambient 72 Hours

Specimen Minimum Volume Defines the amount of specimen required to perform an assay once, including instrument and container dead space. Submitting the minimum specimen volume makes it impossible to repeat the test or perform confirmatory or perform reflex testing. In some situations, a minimum specimen volume may result in a QNS (quantity not sufficient) result, requiring a second specimen to be collected.

BTKSP: 0.35 mL/BTK: 2 mL

Reject Due To Identifies specimen types and conditions that may cause the specimen to be rejected

Note: No specimen should be rejected. If specimen not received at appropriate temperature or in wrong anticoagulant, include note to laboratory. If questions, contact laboratory.

Specimen Stability Information Provides a description of the temperatures required to transport a specimen to the laboratory. Alternate acceptable temperature(s) are also included.
