Submit only 1 of the following specimens:

 

Plasma

Draw blood in Lithium Heparin (green-top) tube(s) from a

fasting patient. Spin down and send 0.5 mL plasma refrigerate.

Note:     1. Indicate plasma on request form.

                  2. Label specimen appropriately (plasma).

 

Serum

Draw blood in a plain, red-top tube(s) or a serum gel tube(s) from a

fasting patient. Spin down and send 0.5 mL of serum refrigerate.

Note:     1. Indicate plasma on request form.

2.  Label specimen appropriately (serum).

3.  Patient's age and sex are required

     on request form for processing.
