Test Catalog

Test Name

Test ID: TCD4
CD4 Count for Immune Monitoring, Blood

Specimen Type Describes the specimen type needed for testing

Whole Blood EDTA

Shipping Instructions

It is recommended that specimens arrive within 24 hours of draw. Draw and package specimen as close to shipping time as possible.

Necessary Information

Date of draw is required.

Specimen Required Defines the optimal specimen. This field describes the type of specimen required to perform the test and the preferred volume to complete testing. The volume allows automated processing, fastest throughput and, when indicated, repeat or reflex testing.

Container/Tube: 4 mL Lavender top (EDTA)

Specimen Volume: 3 mL

Collection Instructions:

1. Send specimen in original tube. Do not aliquot.

2. For serial monitoring, we recommend that specimen draws be performed at the same time of day.

Forms

If not ordering electronically, complete, print, and send a General Request Form (T239) with the specimen (http://www.mayomedicallaboratories.com/it-mmfiles/general-request-form.pdf).

Specimen Minimum Volume Defines the amount of specimen required to perform an assay once, including instrument and container dead space. Submitting the minimum specimen volume makes it impossible to repeat the test or perform confirmatory or perform reflex testing. In some situations, a minimum specimen volume may result in a QNS (quantity not sufficient) result, requiring a second specimen to be collected.

0.2 mL
