Drug Screen, Prescription/OTC, Serum

Specimen Type Describes the specimen type needed for testing

Serum Red

Specimen Required Defines the optimal specimen. This field describes the type of specimen required to perform the test and the preferred volume to complete testing. The volume allows automated processing, fastest throughput and, when indicated, repeat or reflex testing.

Container/Tube: Red top

Specimen Volume: 5.25 mL

Additional Information:

1. See Prescription and Over-the-Counter (OTC) Drug Screens in Special Instructions.

2. For situations where chain of custody is required, a Chain-of-Custody Kit (Supply T282) is available. For chain-of-custody information, see COCH / Chain-of-Custody Processing.

3. This test is not appropriate for drugs of abuse/illicit drug testing. Cocaine will not be detected in this assay.

4. Not intended for use in employment-related testing.

5. This test is not appropriate for assessment of therapeutic compliance.

Specimen Minimum Volume Defines the amount of specimen required to perform an assay once, including instrument and container dead space. Submitting the minimum specimen volume makes it impossible to repeat the test or perform confirmatory or perform reflex testing. In some situations, a minimum specimen volume may result in a QNS (quantity not sufficient) result, requiring a second specimen to be collected.

2.1 mL

Reject Due To Identifies specimen types and conditions that may cause the specimen to be rejected
