Urea, 24 Hour, Urine

Available on the App Store

Specimen Type Describes the specimen type needed for testing

Urine

Specimen Required Defines the optimal specimen. This field describes the type of specimen required to perform the test and the preferred volume to complete testing. The volume allows automated processing, fastest throughput and, when indicated, repeat or reflex testing.

Container/Tube: Plastic, 6-mL tube (Supply T465)

Specimen Volume: 5 mL

Collection Instructions:

1. Collect urine for 24 hours.

2. Add 10 g of boric acid as preservative at start of collection. (If boric acid is not available, refrigerate specimen during collection.)

3. Mix well before taking aliquot.

Additional Information:

1. 24-Hour volume is required.

2. See Urine Preservatives in Special Instructions for multiple collections.

Specimen Minimum Volume Defines the amount of specimen required to perform an assay once, including instrument and container dead space. Submitting the minimum specimen volume makes it impossible to repeat the test or perform confirmatory or perform reflex testing. In some situations, a minimum specimen volume may result in a QNS (quantity not sufficient) result, requiring a second specimen to be collected.
