Specimen Required Defines the optimal specimen. This field describes the type of specimen required to perform the test and the preferred volume to complete testing. The volume allows automated processing, fastest throughput and, when indicated, repeat or reflex testing.

Container/Tube: Green-top (sodium heparin) tube(s)

Specimen Volume:  0.1 mL of plasma

Collection Instructions: Draw specimen just prior to a scheduled meal or feeding. Send specimen in plastic vial.

Note: 1. Include family history, clinical condition (asymptomatic or acute episode), diet, and drug therapy information.

2. Patient's age is required.
