Not all patients with homocystinuria will be detected by this assay. If there is a concern for homocystinuria, please order HCYSU / Homocysteine, Total, Urine in tandem with amino acids.

2. Include family history, clinical condition (asymptomatic or acute episode), diet, and drug therapy information.

Specimen Minimum Volume Defines the amount of specimen required to perform an assay once, including instrument and container dead space. Submitting the minimum specimen volume makes it impossible to repeat the test or perform confirmatory or perform reflex testing. In some situations, a minimum specimen volume may result in a QNS (quantity not sufficient) result, requiring a second specimen to be collected.
