HCV GenoSure NS3/4A Drug Resistance Assay

Specimen Type Describes the specimen type needed for testing

Plasma EDTA

Specimen Required Defines the optimal specimen. This field describes the type of specimen required to perform the test and the preferred volume to complete testing. The volume allows automated processing, fastest throughput and, when indicated, repeat or reflex testing.

Draw blood in a plasma gel tube (PPT) or EDTA (lavender top) tube. Spin down within 6 hours of collection and send 3 mL plasma frozen in a plastic vial.

Recommended:

1.     1.  Patient's HCV Genotype info (1a or 1b)

2.     2.  Patient's most recent viral load

3.     3.  Viral load collection date

Note:

1.    1.  Intended for patients with HCV genotype (subtype) 1a or 1b and a viral load of > or = 2000 IU/mL

2.    2.  Submit separate frozen specimen for each test requested.

Specimen Minimum Volume Defines the amount of specimen required to perform an assay once, including instrument and container dead space. Submitting the minimum specimen volume makes it impossible to repeat the test or perform confirmatory or perform reflex testing. In some situations, a minimum specimen volume may result in a QNS (quantity not sufficient) result, requiring a second specimen to be collected.
