Specimen Type Describes the specimen type needed for testing
Specimen Required Defines the optimal specimen. This field describes the type of specimen required to perform the test and the preferred volume to complete testing. The volume allows automated processing, fastest throughput and, when indicated, repeat or reflex testing.
Draw 2 tubes of blood, 10 mL each in special Streck Black/Tan top tube kit (MML supply number T715). Ship ambient.
1. Specimen MUST be received at MML within 72 hours of collection.
2. Specimen collected between 10 and 27 weeks gestation
3. Sequenom collection kit (MML Supply T715)
4. Maternal Height (inches)
5. Maternal Weight (pounds)
6. Gestational Age (weeks)
7. Gestational Age (days)
8. Method of determining gestational age
9. Number of fetuses
10. Increased risk due to
Specimen Minimum Volume Defines the amount of specimen required to perform an assay once, including instrument and container dead space. Submitting the minimum specimen volume makes it impossible to repeat the test or perform confirmatory or perform reflex testing. In some situations, a minimum specimen volume may result in a QNS (quantity not sufficient) result, requiring a second specimen to be collected.
Warm reject; Cold reject
Specimen Stability Information Provides a description of the temperatures required to transport a specimen to the laboratory. Alternate acceptable temperature(s) are also included.
