Maternal Serum Screening, Integrated, Specimen #2
Specimen Type Describes the specimen type needed for testing
Specimen Required Defines the optimal specimen. This field describes the type of specimen required to perform the test and the preferred volume to complete testing. The volume allows automated processing, fastest throughput and, when indicated, repeat or reflex testing.
Specimen must be drawn between 15 weeks, 0 days and 24 weeks, 6 days gestation (based on the CRL). Acceptable date ranges to draw the second samples will be provided in the Integrated-1 report.
Draw blood in a plain red-top tube(s), serum gel tube is acceptable. Spin down and send 3 mL of serum refrigerated in a plastic vial.
Separate from cells ASAP or within 2 hours of collection.
This test requires a previously submitted first trimester specimen, Maternal Screening, Integrated, Specimen #1 (ARUP test code 0081062).
Required to accompany all specimens (testing will not proceed until all requirements are met):
1. Completed Maternal Serum Screen, Integrated Test Request Form
2. See Special Instructions for a copy of the form
Specimen Minimum Volume Defines the amount of specimen required to perform an assay once, including instrument and container dead space. Submitting the minimum specimen volume makes it impossible to repeat the test or perform confirmatory or perform reflex testing. In some situations, a minimum specimen volume may result in a QNS (quantity not sufficient) result, requiring a second specimen to be collected.
Mild reject; Gross reject
Cold reject; Warm reject
Specimen Stability Information Provides a description of the temperatures required to transport a specimen to the laboratory. Alternate acceptable temperature(s) are also included.
|Serum||Refrigerated (preferred)||7 days|
