Specimen Required Defines the optimal specimen. This field describes the type of specimen required to perform the test and the preferred volume to complete testing. The volume allows automated processing, fastest throughput and, when indicated, repeat or reflex testing.
Submit only 1 of the following specimens:
Serum
Draw blood in a plain, red-top tube(s). Spin down and send 3 mL of serum refrigerate in plastic vial.
Note: 1. Indicate serum on request form.
2. Label specimen appropriately (serum).
Plasma
Draw blood in a lavender-top (EDTA) tube(s). Spin down and send 3 mL of EDTA plasma refrigerate in plastic vial.
Note: 1. Indicate plasma on request form.
2. Label specimen appropriately (plasma).
