This is the preferred test for assessing growth hormone-related
disorders (eg, growth disorders, including acromegaly and
gigantism; adult growth hormone deficiency) and for monitoring
recombinant growth hormone (GH) treatment.
Measurement of both IGF-1 and IGFBP-3 appears superior to
determining either analyte alone, for all clinical applications.
