Test ID: FEGGW
Egg White IgG4

Reference Values Describes reference intervals and additional information for interpretation of test results. May include intervals based on age and sex when appropriate. Intervals are Mayo-derived, unless otherwise designated. If an interpretive report is provided, the reference value field will state this.

<0.15 mcg/mL

The reference range listed on the report is the lower limit of quantitation

for the assay.  The clinical utility of food-specific IgG4 tests has not been

established.  These tests can be used in special clinical situations to select

foods for evaluation by diet elimination and challenge in patients who have

food-related complaints.  It should be recognized that the presence of food-

specific IgG4 alone cannot be taken as evidence of food allergy and only

indicates immunologic sensitization by the food allergen in question.  This

test should only be ordered by physicians who recognize the limitations

of the test.
