Myelin IgG Antibody, IFA

Reference Range:  Negative

 

Interpretive Criteria:

Negative:  Antibody not detected

Positive:  Antibody detected

 

IgG antibodies recognizing myelin may be found in multiple sclerosis, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, and other neurological diseases. A positive result is of questionable diagnostic value, however, since myelin antibodies are detected in approximately 5-10% of apparently healthy individuals.
