Serum IgA is comprised of 80-90% IgA1 and 10-20% IgA2.
Deficiencies in either subclass have been associated with
anaphylactic transfusion reactions. Decreased IgA1 levels
have been reported in patients with Haemophilus influenzae
infection, whereas decreased IgA2 levels have been reported
in patients with sinopulmonary infections.
