Thyroid Transcription Factor (8G7G3/1), Immunostain
Identification of thyroid or lung cells as the primary tumor site in carcinomas of unknown origin
Clinical Information Discusses physiology, pathophysiology, and general clinical aspects, as they relate to a laboratory test
Thyroid transcription factor 1 is a nuclear protein expressed in thyroid follicular cells, type II pneumocytes, and a subset of bronchial cells. Given its relative specificity for cells of thyroid or lung origin, this immunostain is often included in a panel to identify the primary site for carcinomas of unknown origin.
Reference Values Describes reference intervals and additional information for interpretation of test results. May include intervals based on age and sex when appropriate. Intervals are Mayo-derived, unless otherwise designated. If an interpretive report is provided, the reference value field will state this.
This test is not an orderable test. Order 70012 / Pathology Consultation. The consultant will determine the need for special stains.
This request will be processed as a consultation. An interpretive report will be provided.
