Search Tips

In general, entering two or more search words will produce better results than a single word. For example, a Test Name search for carbohydrate urine quickly locates the matching test.

The auto-complete feature helps reduce the amount of typing required to enter search words. After the third character is typed a list of words is presented. If the word you want to search on is not in the suggestion list it does not mean that no results will be found when searching on that word. Not being in the word list only means that the word was not included in our word list.

The default setting for the Test Catalog search is "Test Name." This search looks for tests named similar to your search words. If you don't get the results you're looking for, change to an "Everywhere" search, which automatically broadens your search to the entire test catalog.

Test catalogs for the Rochester, New England, and Florida (Jacksonville) performing locations are comprehensive. This means that each catalog contains tests performed by that location as well as any additional tests available from other performing locations. Switching catalogs does not change the tests listed in the catalog. The only difference is the test number assigned to a given test.

The search results page identifies the catalog searched and includes a link to change performing locations. Performing locations are assigned. Your assigned performing location may not be consistent with your geographic location. If you are a new client, an international client, or unsure which performing location to choose, select Rochester.

Extensive clinical, interpretive, and test methodology information is included to assist in test selection and results interpretation. This public catalog is optimized for use by all site visitors. For clients, your customized catalog is accessible only through your log in to MayoAccess®, MayoLink®, or MayoNet®.

The site design is optimized to provide test information. However, you can easily search all available information by using the "Search Mayo Medical Laboratories" search box at the top of the Web site. Using this search box will retrieve additional information, such as test algorithms and Communiqué articles, when available, in your search results.
