The Outreach Phlebotomist: Value Beyond Specimen Collection

June 13, 2013
Expires June 13, 2015

Video Length: 13 minutes

In this presentation:

Within the laboratory outreach program, several steps must happen to the specimens before they can be tested in the laboratory. In many cases, the testing is the most straight-forward thing! We’ve all heard the axiom that the test result is only as good as the specimen upon which it is performed. Not only is the quality of specimen important, but the patient experience with the laboratory is equally important. This presentation is a discussion of two very important roles played by the outreach phlebotomist: the relational aspect of a phlebotomist’s job (patient care and customer service), and the critical business aspects related to providing phlebotomy support for an outreach program.
