Case Studies in Process Improvement
Maximizing Efficiency of Amyloid Disease Subtyping by Tandem Mass Spectrometry:
A Value Stream Approach
Expires July 15, 2015
Mayo Clinic is the only institution in the world using shotgun proteomics to subtype amyloid disease; efficiency must be improved to accommodate ever increasing demand. We used DMAIC and value stream approaches to identify areas of waste and quality improvement in our tissue and mass spectrometry processes. This project elucidated the process workflow and uncovered quality improvement opportunities with large efficiency benefits.
Video Length:19 mins
- Define current state of the amyloid subtyping process
- Identify areas of waste and formulate improvement strategies
This series is intended for laboratory administrators and managers, quality assurance and control staff, supervisors, and other laboratory personnel dedicated to continuous process improvement.
