Sessions will provide participants with a variety of topics geared towards strengthening your laboratory outreach program in this changing managed care and commercial laboratory landscape. Key to discussing these topics will be a variety of experts who will be sharing their knowledge and expertise.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of the conference, participants should be able to:
- Summarize how managed care organizations develop different strategies for laboratory reimbursement (presented by an "insider").
- Identify the “do’s and don’ts” when talking with neighboring healthcare facilities who are also competitors
- Distinguish the implications of continuation of the competitive bidding demonstration project on national reimbursement rates
- Demonstrate the importance of creating value in the eyes of health plans in order to secure and maintain laboratory service contracts
Intended Audience
This program is designed for pathologists, laboratory directors, outreach coordinators, laboratory sales and marketing managers, managed care staff, administrators and laboratory network managers.
Date and Location
National Conference for Laboratory Networks (NCLN) will be held January 21–22, 2009 (Wednesday through Thursday). Course headquarters will be located at the Phoenix Marriott Mesa, 200 North Centennial Way, Mesa, Arizona. The Marriott is located in downtown Mesa just 12 miles from Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport and minutes from Scottsdale.
Credit
Mayo Medical Laboratories is approved as a provider of continuing education programs in the Clinical Laboratory Sciences by the ASCLS P.A.C.E.® program. This program has been approved for 12.75 contact hours. Level of instruction for this program is intermediate.
A record of attendance for 12.75 contact hours will be provided to attendees.

Travel
Mesa, Arizona, is a friendly city that greets thousands of visitors from around the world each year. The city is served by Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport just 12 miles away. Travel arrangements are the sole responsibility of the individual registrant.
Lodging Accommodations
Participants are responsible for making their own reservations for lodging. Make your room reservations by calling in individually by Monday, December 22, 2008. After that time, reservations requests will be taken on a space-available and rate-available basis. Attendees may call Marriott Reservations toll-free at (888) 236-2427 and ask for the “Mayo Medical” or go to http://www.marriott.com/phxmm and enter mmdmmda as the group code to make reservations.
Each guest room has internet access, a coffee maker, hair dryer and ironing board. All rooms are non-smoking. A special conference room rate of $208 per night for single or double occupancy has been extended for this conference. Rate includes continental breakfast, lunch and break refreshments on Wednesday and Thursday, and a reception Thursday evening.

Although it is not NCLN’s policy to limit the number of participants for this meeting, conference room facilities may necessitate closing of enrollment; therefore, early registration is strongly advised. Registration deadline is Friday, January 2, 2009. A letter of confirmation will be e-mailed upon the completion of the registration form. Please indicate your e-mail address on the registration form. Do not confirm hotel or travel arrangements until you receive notification. Kindly present this confirmation letter when checking in at the meeting registration desk.
Room rate includes meals. If you stay at an alternate hotel, a per diem rate of $65 for the two days will be charged upon registration.
