The registration fee of $600 includes tuition, conference materials provided electronically, continental breakfasts, lunches, break refreshments and reception. Early bird registration is $500 (applies to full conference registration only) if you register by July 23, 2012. 

There is the option of one-day registration vs. full conference (registration fee for one day: $200).

Although it is not the policy of Mayo Medical Laboratories Education Department to limit the number of participants, conference room facilities may necessitate closing of enrollment; therefore, early registration is strongly advised. Registration deadline is September 14, 2012. A letter of confirmation will be forwarded to your e-mail address upon submitted registration. Please do not finalize hotel or travel arrangements until you receive written notification. 

Cancellation Policy

If you cancel your participation in this conference on or before August 27, 2012, your registration fee, less a $75 administrative fee, will be refunded. Mayo Medical Laboratories Education Department must receive written notification of your cancellation. No refunds will be made after August 27, 2012.

Mayo Medical Laboratories reserves the right to cancel or postpone any conference due to unforeseen circumstances. In the unlikely event Mayo Medical Laboratories must cancel or postpone this conference, Mayo Medical Laboratories will refund the registration fee, but is not responsible for any related costs, charges, or expenses to participants, including fees assessed by airline/travel/lodging agencies.

Travel

Rochester, Minnesota, is a friendly city that greets thousands of visitors from around the world each year. The city is served by a modern international airport with multiple flights daily via American or Delta Airlines. Access to and from the airport is provided by taxi, shuttle service, and rental car. The airport is located approximately 10 miles from The Kahler Grand Hotel that is in downtown Rochester adjacent to Mayo Clinic facilities.

Note to Travelers: Several cities in the United States are named Rochester. When you make airline reservations and check your baggage, be sure that your destination is Rochester, Minnesota (RST), and that your baggage has been properly tagged.

Travel arrangements are the sole responsibility of the individual registrant.

Go Rochester Direct shuttle service provides shuttle service between the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) and Rochester. For reservations, call Go Rochester Direct at 800-280-9270. Check the shuttle schedule at www.gorochesterdirect.com.

Rochester Shuttle Service offers 12 daily shuttles serving Mayo Clinic and all Rochester hotels to and from the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) and Mall of America. Guest rooms have been reserved for attendees and their guests with special course rates at each of the following downtown Rochester hotels. To receive the special rate, you must make reservations before the room block is filled or before the expiration date of September 3, 2012, whichever comes first.Reservations will be taken following this date based on space and rate availability. Mayo Medical Laboratories is not responsible for expenses incurred by an individual who is not confirmed and for whom space is not available at the meeting. Costs incurred by the registrant such as airline or hotel fees or penalties are the responsibility of the registrant.

Parking

Parking is available in hotel, city, and Mayo patient/visitor ramps. The cost for parking is not included in the registration fee (view downtown Rochester maps with parking information at www.mayoclinic.org/travel-rst).

Tours

Mayo Medical Laboratories

This tour will take approximately 1 1/2 hours and will offer a view into Mayo Medical Laboratories operations and laboratory practices. Transportationl to and from Mayo Medical Laboratories will be provided. Preregistration is required for participation; the number of participants is limited.

Mayo Medical Laboratories is a reference laboratory operating within Mayo Clinic's Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology. We provide testing to more than 4,000 hospitals, clinics, and laboratories and serve clients in more than 64 countries. These clients range from large university centers to rural clinics. Once a specimen arrives at Mayo Medical Laboratories, it is goes through a state-of-the art process of being tracked, scanned, labeled, entered into our laboratory information system and sorted. Specimens are then delivered to the appropriate laboratory for testing. Laboratories are located at the Superior Drive Support Center and within the Conrad Hilton Building. To ensure these the highest level of patient care, Mayo Medical Laboratories utilizes several continuous process improvement methodologies including Lean and Six Sigma to ensure optimal efficiencies and productivity.

Mayo Clinic

Public tours of Mayo Clinic are provided each day of the week, Monday through Friday, beginning at 10:00 am, except for holidays. The tours originate from Judd Auditorium, Subway Level of the Mayo Building, and last approximately 1.5 hours. The tour includes a 20-minute film on the history and operation of Mayo Clinic plus visits to points of interest in the Mayo, Plummer, Hilton, and Gonda buildings. Please make advance reservations by calling 507-538-1091.

Social Programs

Meet the Leadership Reception – Wednesday, September 26, 2012 / 5:00-6:30 pm
Participants and their guests are cordially invited to join the conference faculty and meet some of Mayo Clinic’s leadership. This reception offers you the perfect opportunity to make connections with existing and new colleagues. The exhibit hall will be open allowing you the opportunity to visit the vendors. Preregistration is required. Conference participant and one guest may attend as part of the conference registration fee.

Mall of American Excursion – Friday, September 28, 2012 / departing at 12:00 pm
Mall of America, the largest fully-enclosed retail and family entertainment complex in the United States, is an easy 90-minute drive or shuttle ride from Rochester. Along with 500 retail stores, restaurants, and nightclubs, the mall features Nickelodeon Universe, the world’s largest indoor theme park, and Underwater Adventures® Aquarium, a walk through an aquarium featuring 15,000 fish. 

A shuttle will depart at the main west entrance of The Kahler Grand Hotel at 12:00 pm. Participants will have all afternoon and early evening to shop and enjoy the attractions at the Mall of America. The shuttle will depart the Mall of America for return to Rochester at 7 pm. Cost is $30/person (covers transportation) and will be due at the time of registration.
