Rochester, Minnesota, is a friendly city that greets thousands of visitors from around the world each year. The city is served by a modern international airport with multiple flights daily from Chicago, Detroit, and Minneapolis via American or Northwest Airlines. Access to and from the airport is provided by taxi, shuttle service, and rental car. The airport is located approximately 10 miles from The Kahler Grand Hotel that is in downtown Rochester adjacent to Mayo Clinic facilities.

Note to Travelers: Several cities in the United States are named Rochester. When you make airline reservations and check your baggage, be sure that your destination is Rochester, Minnesota (RST), and that your baggage has been properly tagged.

Guest rooms have been reserved for attendees and their guests with special course rates at each of the following downtown Rochester hotels. To receive the special rate, you must make reservations before the room block is filled or before the expiration date of July 12, 2008, whichever comes first. Reservations will be taken following this date based on space and rate availability. Please identify yourself as a participant of the Bleeding and Thrombosing Diseases Conference when making a reservation.

The hotels listed above are connected by skyway and pedestrian subway to conference facilities, downtown shops, and restaurants. Parking

Parking is available in hotel, city, and Mayo patient/visitor ramps. The cost for parking is not included in the registration fee. A map indicating the location of downtown parking facilities will be mailed with the registrant confirmation letter.

Social Programs

Coagulation Wet Workshop Reception
Wet Workshop and Conference attendees, faculty, and vendors are invited to participate in the Workshop Welcoming Reception which will be held Tuesday, August 12 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Skyway Receptions in the University Square skyway, located a block from the Kahler Grand Hotel. Dress is business casual. Pre-registration is requested.

Conference Reception and Hemostasis Product Display
Conference attendees are cordially invited to the Conference Reception and Hemostasis Product Display on Wednesday, August 13, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. This reception welcomes you to Rochester and offers you the perfect opportunity to make connections with existing and new colleagues as well as view the displays in Windsor Hall. Dress is business casual. Pre-registration is requested.

Other

Public tours of Mayo Clinic are provided each day of the week beginning at 10:00 am, except for holidays. The tours originate from Judd Auditorium, Subway Level of the Mayo Building, and last approximately 1.5 hours. The tour includes a 20-minute film on the history and operation of Mayo Clinic plus visits to points of interest in the Mayo, Plummer, Hilton, and Gonda buildings. Mall of America, the largest fully-enclosed retail and family entertainment complex in the United States, is an easy 90-minute drive or shuttle ride from Rochester. Along with 500 retail stores, restaurants, and nightclubs, the mall features The Park at MOA, the world’s largest indoor theme park, and Underwater Adventures® Aquarium, a walk through an aquarium featuring 15,000 fish. Go Rochester Direct shuttle service will pick up at all local hotels, and departs approximately every two hours from 8:00 am–8:30 pm. The cost is $39 per person same day round-trip.
