Reflex Test Reporting Changes
Effective November 18, 2011, some tests that are reflexed from consultative or genetic tests which do not hold analytic test results will transition into non-reportable, bill-only tests. Today, these tests are reported as “Performed” and the analytical result of the test is reported in the interpretive field of the original ordered test. To improve the appearance of the patient report, these tests will no longer be reported with the “Performed” comment. Instead, they will be non-reported, bill-only tests. The tests will continue to be published as reflex tests in the test catalog.
Previously, for some of our clients, the “Performed” test result indicator was used as a trigger for billing reflexed tests. A more accurate and timely approach is to use the Mayo Medical Laboratories Additional Test Notification Report. After the transition to Soft, this report will include Mayo Test ID, CPT code, and client-specific price information for reflexed tests and add-on tests. It will be the primary method for staying up-to-date with reflexed and add-on tests.
