LIS Replacement Update Overview

As part of Mayo Medical Laboratories' commitment to delivering the highest quality, patient-focused laboratory medicine and pathology in the world, we are pleased to announce a replacement of our current laboratory information system.

In conjunction with SCC Soft, one of the nation’s leading laboratory information technology companies, Mayo Clinic will finish its migration to a new laboratory information system in 2011.

This migration is the final phase in a four year transformation of our information technology which has included MayoTrac™, MayoAccess™, and a new client billing system. Additionally, in November 2009, Mayo Clinic migrated to the Soft system which now manages all Mayo Clinic inpatient and outpatient collections as well as all hospital-based testing. To date, more than 20 million tests have been managed by these new systems.

To ensure a smooth transition for your practice and Mayo Clinic, hundreds of Mayo Clinic and Soft personnel have been actively planning, developing, testing, and validating the system.

Over the course of the next year, Mayo Medical Laboratories is committed to keeping you up-to-date regarding our progress, confirming timelines, and describing how the replacement systems will benefit you. Additionally, we will need your help executing compliance system plans with the assistance of our client support team. Please check this page often for regular updates about our progress and how the system migration may affect your organization.

To sign up for updates regarding Mayo Clinic’s transition to the Soft laboratory information system, go to our easy-to-use form to signup and select "IT and LIS infrastructure" as an area of interest. Additionally, Mayo Medical Laboratories Regional Managers and Regional Service Representatives will be updating you during regular visits to Mayo Medical Laboratories client sites.

Mayo Medical Laboratories is very confident in the new system and are excited about the new opportunities it will create to ensure we continue to exceed your reference laboratory expectations.
