FAQs Ordering Tests Preparing Your Specimen
How do I send a time-sensitive specimen?
Contact Customer Service prior to sending a specimen for time-sensitive testing. Relay the following information:
- Facility name
- Account number
- Patient name and/or Mayo Medical Laboratories' accession number
- Shipping information (ie, courier service, FedEx®, etc.)
- Date specimen will be shipped
- Test(s) to be performed
Place the specimen in a separate Mayo Medical Laboratories' temperature-appropriate bag. Write "Expedite" in large print on the outside of the bag. To ship infectious substances, see Dangerous Goods Training.
