FAQsOrdering TestsTransporting Specimens

The batch sheet and labels give a transport temperature of “R” for refrigerate but I know that Mayo will accept a frozen sample. How do I notify Mayo I am sending a sample at a temperature other than what is listed on the batch sheet and labels?

MayoAccess always prints the preferred temperature on the Labels and Batch Sheets but does recognize and accept other temperatures for some specimens. Unfortunately there is not an electronic way to update the temperature in MayoAccess so the client must cross through the temperature on the batch sheet and write in red the correct shipping temperature. Additionally the sample should be packed appropriately in the correct shipping temperature bag.
