Sometimes I have additional information I want to share with Mayo related to a specimen such as shared specimen, additional specimen, difficult collection, etc. Is it acceptable in to write the information on the batch sheet?
MayoAccess has a Performing Lab Notes field that can be used during order entry and prior to closing a batch. This is the correct and appropriate location to add this type of information. The information is printed on the batch sheet and sent electronically to Mayo Medical Laboratories. Under unique circumstances it may be appropriate to make a note on the batch sheet.
