FAQsOrdering TestsTransporting Specimens

What should I do when I place an order for a shared specimen that cannot be split and is performed at two different Mayo Laboratories? (Example: Jacksonville and Rochester Laboratories)

In circumstances where the specimen cannot be split and when there is a question as to where the specimen should go, ALWAYS send the sample to Rochester. Please submit BOTH batch sheets to Rochester and highlight the tests and write SHARED SPECIMEN on the batch sheets. Rochester Laboratories will ensure the testing is complete and then reported in a timely manner.
