VWD NHLBI Guidelines (2008): Collection and Handling of Samples for Laboratory Testing1
May 2011
Sample processing is critical for VWD testing, and should avoid cold temperatures. Platelets should be depleted, especially if plasma samples are to be frozen before testing. Frozen plasma samples should be carefully thawed at 37 degrees C, then kept at room temperature and tested within 2 hours.
