Slide 19

May 2011

This summary from the NHLBI VWD Guidelines (including the next 2 slides) outlines conditions of the patient and of the blood sample that can influence the results of laboratory testing for VWD. Conditions influencing test results include: phlebotomy procedures; patient stress level; and additional conditions in the person including acute or chronic inflammation; recent surgery or illness; and pregnancy or estrogen hormone therapy in women. These patient conditions may elevate VWF and factor VIII above baseline levels.
