VWF Multimer Analysis: Recommendations⁴

VWF multimer analysis is technically complex and is qualitatively interpreted with reference to the initial 3 VWD test and available clinical information, and is used to help determine the VWD subtype. "Therefore, VWF multimer analysis is not recommended for initial VWD screening, and should only be perfomed if initial VWD testing identifies an abnormal result (eg, abnormally low VWF ristocetin cofactor or ratio of VWF ristocetin cofactor to VWF antigen) or clinical information suggests a high likelihood of abnormal VWF multimer analysis."
