Warfarin Sensitivity Genotyping

PGx-Guided Warfarin Dosing7

Slide 14

August 2008

A recent study indicated that pharmacokinetic-guided warfarin dosing by testing for the polymorphisms commonly found in CYP2C9 resulted in a therapeutic INR being reached earlier in the patient population compared to controls. They more rapidly attained a stable INR and they spent a greater time in the therapeutic range than the controls that were not genotyped. The bleeding incidence was also lowered to 3% versus 12.5% in the control population. This demonstrates the functionality of these alleles, these polymorphisms of CYP2C9 and the importance of genotyping for them.
