This presentation provides an overview of TMAs. It will focus on ADAMTS13 activity testing and its clinical application in patients with Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (TTP), an introduction of laboratory testing strategies for Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli which has been implicated in the pathogenesis of diarrhea associated Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome (dHUS) and an introduction of laboratory tests for complement pathways which could be potentially useful in diagnosing atypical HUS.
