Mayo Medical Laboratories is the diagnostic reference laboratory for Mayo Clinic. We specialize in esoteric laboratory testing for health care organizations throughout the United States and around the world. Our mission is to support the local delivery of laboratory services by providing exceptional reference testing and support services which facilitate and augment community integration efforts.

Laboratory Services

Mayo Medical Laboratories’ clients have access to personalized customer service and comprehensive consultative services from Mayo Clinic laboratory professionals and clinicians 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Mayo Medical Laboratories specimens are indistinguishable from—and follow the same route as—our internal Mayo Clinic specimens. More than 18 million specimens were processed by our Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology last year. We continue to expand our facilities to meet our clinical needs and have a five-year plan that supports additional growth capacity.

Mayo Clinic has more than 51,000 employees, including 3,100 medical and scientific personnel. Mayo Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology (DLMP) is comprised of more than 2,200 employees, with supervisors and pathologists available around the clock. We provide medical and scientific expertise in our specialized laboratories which are equipped with the latest diagnostic instrumentation and staffed by professionals committed to quality diagnostic testing.
